Apesar de a nova geração excluir consoles antigos, o Playstation 2 parece ser o "último sobrevivente" de uma geração que com certeza vai deixar muitas saudades, que deverão ser matadas com a evolução de grandes jogos como GTA, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Metroid, entre muitos outros.
O console ainda parece respirar com títulos já confirmados para esse ano e para 2008, enquanto seus antigos rivais parecem ter perdido a preferência das produtoras.
